Hearts Bloom in God's Word Quilt for Jaftex Blog Hop!

Today is Day #4 of the Jaftex 85th Anniversary Blog Hop.  It’s been a privilege to be in the Henry Glass family for over 8 years now.  To help Jaftex celebrate their 85th anniversary, I’ve stitched this quilt “Hearts Bloom in God’s Word” from some of the Folio Basics by Color Principle.  The borders are from my “Starry Basics” collection.  The screen-printed scriptures are available through The Whole Country Caboodle.  This project is a great keepsake quilt to make for yourself or to give to a loved one. We hope that you enjoy it for years to come.

If you want to win a bundle of the of the Color Principle fabrics that were used in the quilt, make sure to leave a comment on this post answering the following question...What is your favorite keepsake quilt you have ever made or received?  I will choose the winner by October 1st.

We hope you enjoy these fun colors and invite you to visit our website or the Henry Glass website to view our other collections.

Make sure to check out Mark Lipinski’s blog tomorrow : Mark Lipinski!  Following days are listed on the side bar!

  1. Apparently we don't go in for keepsake quilts in my family. I got a quilt when I got married but it got mildewed and destroyed around 6 years later. Four years ago I made a wonky sorta log cabin using some of my Mom's scraps as the centers. This quilt probably started my quilting journey. I bought a long arm so I could quilt it, as I couldn't see me trying to get my little Bernina to handle the oversized queen it turned out to be. I call it Mom's Sunflowers as each square starts with one of her sunflowers. Thanks.

  55. I'm going to say it is the one I'm working on right now--isn't that so often the case? I'm making a log cabin, and I've used scraps from every quilt I've ever made. So many memories, of the people I quilted for, and the occasions both happy and sad. It's funny to see the baby fabrics for kids who are now cool teenagers, and tender to see the fabric I chose to comfort loved ones through illnesses. A very special addition to the quilt was when I found some fabric my mother had used to create Christmas gifts for her friends, thirty years ago. I was so happy to include that in my quilt; how can this not be my very favorite keepsake quilt now?

  61. One of my favorite keepsake quilts is one I made this spring for my mothers 80th birthday. The quilt pattern itself is very simple, but prior to piecing it I sent blocks out to all of the children, grandchildren, spouses and other family members and had them write memories and draw pictures on them. I then hand embroidered over all of the writing to preserve it and sewed everything together. When I presented it to Mom she was not expecting it at all and was so happy to have it. There were some wonderful things I learned about my mom that I never knew before collecting those blocks. 💜

  63. You know to be honest I don't remember what the name of my favorite Keepsake Quilt, but I do remember it was a fall pattern and had the most beautiful fall colors and prints. Leaves, pumpkins everything Fall:) I've been ill for about four years now, and I'm just getting my mojo back and quilting, but the reason I remember it so clearly is I donated it to my church for a silent auction. I really had a hard time letting it go. Lol the money being raised was for a village in South Africa that our church was working with. So I gave in. Lol. Thank you for helping me remember that story.

I cross-stitched their monogram in the center with their wedding anniversary, and then cross stitched all their grandchildren's wedding anniversaries in subsequent blocks. I didn't know how to quilt, so I just tied it, and put a ready-made binding on it. That was in 1993. I've learned much since then, but have many many more things to learn. 129. My favorite keepsake quilt is a red & white pieced quilt that I use when the grandchildren come to visit. It's our "Picinic Quilt"! I first used it 14 years ago when my oldest grandchild was a baby and we needed something to put on the floor for her to lay on....it evolved into a picnic quilt for all 5 grandchildren & we use all year round. Apple juice or water are the only drinks allowed! : ) I love making memories with that sweet heirloom...the grandchildren will always remember Nana's Picnic Quilt!

I made a red white & blue quilt to honor my dad's 1 year passing and brought it to the local VA hospital this past February.. several months later I got the most heart warming letter from the soldier who received it.. worth every stitch and ouch from the pins (I'm a pinner from way back - I pin everything!)

When I left my teaching job with severely handicapped children, the teacher who was to take my place made me a beautiful little quilt with all my students feetprints and the Footprints poem on the other side. I LOVE your quilt in honor of our Lord! Thanks and God bless! ILuvTheEucharist @ aol.com

  141. My sister made one for her mil (who happens to be my bff) :, each lady in the family made a block with special memory clothing and my sister put them together with fabric to represent each person. It's amazing. I'm working on a quilt for my pastor's 25th anniversary at the church using an applique of the church and all our ministries in the center. I'm collecting signatures from pastor friends and missionaries as well as church members. I have to be finished by December...

  142. For my 30th birthday this year I asked my close friends and family to send me a fat quarter. I took all of them and made them into a quilt celebrating all the people who helped me get to where I am now. It's all pinned and ready for me to quilt it if I could just find some time. #storyofmylife

  143. When I first started quilting I made a small spool wall hanging for a friend. It is not my best work but she still has it hanging in her sewing room. So, it is my favourite keepsake quilt because she has kept it.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  144. I created a memory quilt for my father when he turned 70. On it was photos of him throughout his lifetime, photos of his children, grandchildren and family signature blocks. He hung it in his home for 20 more years until he passed and my family tenderly returned it to me.

  145. My favorite memory quilt is one I made for my mother. I used Pineapple Blocks in pastels (as salt water taffy) - it was called Courting Alice and had calla lilies on the label. These were her two favorite things. She had Alzheimer's so it was a memory quilt in more ways than one.

  146. It was the quilt that introduced me to quilting! In 1994 I was given a wonderful keepsake quilt by my co-workers at the Loma Linda School of Public Health. Each department made a block. It was one of those moments that stay with you forever. In addition to the love I felt from them, I had this 'aha' moment of this is what I want to do--make stories with quilts. Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this wonderful giveaway--Happy Anniversary to Jaftex!
