Jaftex 85th Anniversary Blog Hop

Hi Quilting Friends…
We are so excited to help our friends at Jaftex celebrate their 85th anniversary. A little history to share with you about their beginnings is as follows: Jaftex Corp. was founded in the 1930’s when Jacob A. Fortunoff started selling fabric on the streets of New York. At that time, the mainstay of the business was women’s sleepwear and lingerie. In the 80’s, Jacob’s grandson, Robert, dramatically changed the business of the company. The business focus was transferred to the over the counter quilt industry when Robert purchased companies like A.E. Nathan, Henry Glass, Stylemaker, Chanteclaire, Fabric Editions/Studioe and more recently The Blank Quilting Corp. Robert is now joined by his two sons, Scott and Greg. Scott currently is the President of Studioe Fabrics, The Blank Quilting Corp. & A.E. Nathan Co., Inc. Greg just joined the business in late 2014 and has successfully spearheaded the company’s foray in to precut fabrics among other contributions.
As a Henry Glass designer, I know firsthand the quality and top notch fabric they create. I feel honored to be one of their designers and want to take this time to congratulate Robert, Scott and Greg on a job very well done!! Blessings to all of you as you continue to create beautiful fabric!!

Lancaster AQS show & New Patterns!!

My husband Ed and I were recently out in Lancaster, PA, for an AQS show and just had a blast.  It was fun to get back out on the road again!  It is always nice to catch up with old friends, and we love meeting and talking with new people who stop by the booth.  We were like busy little worker bees for the month leading up to the show, putting together kits, patterns, and creating 4 new patterns and updating our Legacy of Wisdom panel program.  Here are a few pictures from the show, as well as pictures of our new patterns, panels, and kits.  Visit our website today!!
Packed in tight to our new cart!

Feels like Spring (at least for a little bit)!

Typically right now in Iowa we would have lots of snow and freezing cold temperatures, but lately we have been spoiled with lots of sunshine and warmer weather!  I know it might not stick around long so we are appreciating it while it lasts!  With the warm weather, comes the urge to do some spring cleaning!  Having a predominately mail order business, we do not have to worry about how the shop looks most of the time, but with a class coming from a nearby University, that all had to change!  Kayt and I have been like busy little worker bees organizing and cleaning!  As daunting of a task as it seemed, by taking it one section at a time, it has not been too bad!  I am lucky that I have Kaytlyn who loves cleaning and organizing, and a husband who is eager to do whatever we ask him to do! One day Kaytlyn could tell I was a little overwhelmed about getting another shipment of fabric in because we had no place to put what did she and Ed do...they built a whole wall of shelves that known as "The Gallery"!! These two help get me excited to get things done!  With all of us working we can tackle a lot!  There is still more to do, but for now we at least have a start!  This gets us excited to continue designing more fabric and patterns!  We have lots in the works so stay tuned for sneak peaks of what we are working on!
New pattern in the works!  Inspired by spring!
